Wake. Meditate. Write. It will be from now on.
So, I went to Mexico, and immediately remembered how much my soul missed the sun and the water and the sand. Pretty pictures and fun stories soon.
Back in the States, I've been working on the creation of four book trailers, each inspired by a theme in AMERICAN FEMALE. When you experience the trailers, you will feel as if you are actually living the book. More details on that project as a whole forthcoming, but the above photo is a sneak peek of Trailer #4.
As seen from the image created above, I realized I've cultivated quite the creative and talented team here in Saint Louis to help me fulfill my vision for the AMERICAN FEMALE book launch. My filmmaker, Dave Weis of Paralell Briefly, just gets me. Our brainstorming was effortless, and we had the storyboards for all four trailers after just one session.
My friend of almost a decade, Tasha Smith, owner of Burger 809 catering company and a marketing and branding guru, has officially come on board as my Marketing Director for the book launch. I couldn't be happier or more relieved. She can finish my sentences, knows my thoughts, and how to push me past any constraints or limits I may put on myself. Our brains operate on the same wavelength and I'd trust her with my life.
For Trailer #4, I enlisted my friend Jenna Grissom, owner of j. Elizabeth Photograhy, infamous for her sultry boudoir shots - seriously, go check them out. Outside of our friendship, I've worked with Jenna in the past for her Show Me Saint Louis segment, and witnessed the incredibly talented one-woman show in action. She is a phenomenal photographer, editor, and inspiration to her subjects. That's why it was non-negotiable to enlist her as the Art Director for Trailer #4.
I knew I needed the best makeup. Once again, I reached out to a friend, the badass Ms. Jennifer Duncan. The image speaks for itself. Only she could make me look that good. Well, and her coconut oil.
Shout out to new friends at Nebula on the Southside at Jefferson and Cherokee for saving the day and letting us film in their basement studios! Literally couldn't have done it without you, Jason and Michelle!
TL;DR There's a lot of REALLY COOL STUFF going on with my book launch - but I couldn't do it all by myself. I have the best team and am forever grateful. SO MUCH MORE TO COME so stay tuned. More incredible things are going to happen over the next few months than I could ever anticipate - I know that for sure.
